SDVH’s one-way car rental service makes this possible. Rent a car in a specific UK area and return it at your final destination. This service helps to make travel simple, eliminating unnecessary rental periods.
Instead of driving all the way back to the first rental location, you could save money by returning the car to a nearby depot or have our team pick it up from your endpoint. This one-way car hire option, only available on the UK mainland, comes with an extra charge. Be sure to specify your endpoint and pickup date when booking.

With SDVH, each car rented features comprehensive insurance which covers both minor damages to the car and every person inside.
This insurance coverage is incorporated in the car hire fee, ensuring there are no unexpected fees. During the reservation phase, our team will inform you about the complete cost of the car hire, including insurance choices.

What To Do In Ewell
Tucked between the outer reaches of London and the open spaces of Surrey, it blends village charm with pockets of history and parkland. It’s an easy drive from both the A24 and M25 and best explored with the flexibility of a car—whether you’re stopping off or planning a slower day out. If you’re coming from a city, Ewell will bring your mind a rest from the urban crowd with its 34,000 residents.
Summers bring families to the green spaces, while spring reveals quiet paths beneath budding trees. An ideal detour for drivers coming from Tolworth, it also links neatly with nearby Cheam and Epsom—all within a few minutes’ reach by car.
Parking’s simple, the town layout manageable and the pace? Comfortably slow.
Attractions In Ewell
Ewell works on a slower current. The town doesn’t push its landmarks at you—it invites you in, gently. The best finds come when you wander without rushing.
Nonsuch Park
There’s a strange elegance here, even without the palace. We entered near Cheam Road, past lime trees with blackbirds rustling above and felt the air shift—cooler, slower.
Henry VIII’s grand Nonsuch Palace once stood at the centre. All that’s left is the memory, the bones of layout still visible in the avenues and the old Banqueting House site. Yet somehow, that absence makes the space feel larger. Cyclists pass, kids weave between trees and the dog walkers seem to know every path by instinct.
Bourne Hall Museum
The museum sits inside a building that looks like it should spin slowly and lift off into the clouds. It doesn’t—but it does hold Roman coins, Victorian doll heads and a brass rubbing station that school kids swarm like bees.
Not flashy but local to the core. Open weekdays. You’ll be glad you stopped.
Hobbledown Adventure Farm Park And Zoo
Part zoo. Part fantasy. Part madness.
Children disappear into towers, zip-lines and hobbit-like tunnels while llamas chew thoughtfully on grass. There are birds of prey, wallabies and giant jumping pillows. You’ll hear the phrase “can we stay longer?” more than once. It’s immersive, unpredictable and full of clever design touches for worn-out parents too. Parking’s easy. Plan to spend the day.
Horton Country Park
It doesn’t announce itself. There’s no big sign, no grand entrance. Just a gate off Horton Lane and the sense that something green and unbothered is waiting.
We followed the footpath beneath tangled hawthorn, stopped to watch a pony scratch its nose on a fence post and veered left past a line of silent birches. It felt like no one had walked there that morning. Maybe they hadn’t. That stillness is its charm.
Honeywood Museum
We hadn’t meant to stop. The weather changed our plans.
Inside: sloping floors, painted fireplaces, tiny ephemera from Carshalton’s past. A toy tram. A carved comb. Wartime ration books with crisp corners. The woman at reception said the place used to be a family home. You can still feel that. Open Thursday to Saturday. A short drive—worth it.
This spot draws a lot of interest from people in Chessington, who often combine it with a visit to the nearby ponds or park cafés.
The Cockney Museum
“I bet you don’t know what a mangle is,” said the man in the hat.
We didn’t. He showed us—and three more things besides. That’s how the Cockney Museum goes. Part archive, part front room, part chatty East End history lesson. There’s a battered jellied eel stall in one corner. A wall of Pearly King suits in another. It’s odd. Personal. And exactly right.
Rosebery Park
There’s not much to say—and that’s the beauty of it.
Swings creak. Pigeons scuffle beneath benches. Someone’s eating chips from a paper tray. It’s the place you go after lunch, before you decide what to do next. And sometimes, you never get round to leaving.
We planned a morning outing from Banstead and ended up here longer than expected.
Epsom Common
Walk far enough and the paths disappear.
We lost the trail and didn’t mind. The brambles closed in and we found ourselves by a pond we hadn’t seen on the map. Crows watched from a wire. A heron lifted off without warning. There’s no centre, no signage, just space. Open all hours and best when you’re in no rush. Approaching from Ashtead, this was an easy first stop before venturing further west.
Bourne Hall Park
Flat, open, honest. This is where teenagers kick footballs. Toddlers chase geese. Dads lie back on blankets and ignore their phones. On weekends you might find stalls, bandstands, even a classic car or two. It’s a community’s green lung and it does its job well. You’ll probably pass through—but pause if you can.
Horton Arts Centre
Light filters in through the old chapel windows. Paintings hang where hymns once echoed.
We arrived during a morning class—the kind where everyone knows each other’s name—and stayed for a coffee in the little café. The room smelled of ink and fresh bread.
A popular option with those based in Sutton, who often come for the exhibitions, then linger over tea.
This place is a repurposed miracle. Monday to Friday, usually something’s on.
Where To Pause For A Bite (Or Stay A While)
Ewell has a lived-in feel and the food scene reflects it—familiar, relaxed, easy to settle into. Along the High Street, All Things Nice serves proper coffee and cinnamon buns worth waiting for. For something with candlelight and a wine list, Ristorante Sorrento on Cheam Road delivers rustic Italian with generous portions.
While driving in from Worcester Park, we made a last-minute dinner stop here—and weren’t disappointed.
If you’re staying overnight, Premier Inn Epsom Northgives you parking, a good bed and no fuss. Chalk Lane Hotel, slightly further out, leans more toward cosy weekend retreat—slower mornings, fuller breakfasts.
