What To Do In Frimley

Blink and you might miss it—but slow down and Frimley reveals a depth of character that belies its compact size with „just” 19,000 residents. Sandwiched between clusters of woodland and the bustle of larger neighbours, this town folds itself neatly into the wider Surrey Heath landscape. Though technically part of Camberley’s suburban sprawl, Frimley holds firm to its own identity, with roots that reach back through centuries of quiet development.

You’re never far from major routes here—the A331 runs just east of town, giving fast access to the M3 and on toward the Hampshire borders. That makes it especially handy for road-trippers planning multi-stop itineraries across Surrey and beyond. Weather-wise, Frimley gets its fair share of damp autumns and crisp, sunlit springs, so waterproofs or walking boots don’t go amiss. Late April to early June tends to be a sweet spot—the green spaces are in full bloom and the local parks are alive with families and dog walkers.

Attractions In Frimley

From hands-on family fun to low-key walks in woodlands and meadows, Frimley balances natural beauty with unexpected charm. Much of its appeal lies in the quieter spots—the ones locals return to for picnics, cycling or simply to pass the time.

Frimley Lodge Park

This spacious parkland just off Sturt Road is where everything seems to converge—riverside strolls, wide grassy fields, a café and an excellent play area. With over 2,000 reviews backing it up, Frimley Lodge Park is a well-loved favourite.

Approaching from Camberley, this was an easy first stop before tracing some of the quieter paths around the edge of the park. Even on a weekday, we saw families barbecuing, joggers weaving through the trees and children racing between climbing frames. Open all day, it’s a versatile and scenic stop for anyone exploring the area by car.

Frimley Lodge Park Railway

Within the park grounds, this miniature railway winds through trees and open space in a charming loop. Trains run on selected weekends from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and it’s clearly a local favourite—both for nostalgic adults and wide-eyed children.

We nearly missed the entrance but the sound of the steam whistle gave it away.

Tekels Park

Tucked within easy reach of Bagshot, Tekels Park feels like one of Surrey’s best-kept secrets. More spiritual retreat than traditional park, its meadow and woodland offer peace and solitude.

The site is open at all hours but mid-morning gives the clearest light through the trees. You won’t find playgrounds or cafés here—just quiet paths and time to yourself.

Jump In Adventure Park Camberley

This indoor trampoline and adventure park off Admiralty Way is a magnet for families. We planned a morning outing from Ash and were met with bouncing, laughter and obstacle zones that quickly tired out even the most energetic kids.

Sessions run in two main blocks. Though the café’s a bit pricey, the high energy and clean setup made it feel like time and money well spent.

Watchmoor Nature Reserve

Lying between industrial units and the A331, this compact reserve is a pleasant surprise. We stopped by on a whim and wandered along boardwalks and past small ponds fringed with reeds.

It’s open 24 hours and never crowded—ideal for an unplanned detour or a peaceful lunch break in nature.

Frimley Green Recreation Ground

Right in the heart of Frimley Green sits this generous open space, a hub for everything from dog walks to cricket matches. The field is surrounded by trees and low fencing, with clear views in every direction.

During a visit to Farnham, we circled back for a quick stroll and found a surprisingly lively crowd—children at the skate ramp, teens kicking a ball about and a picnic unfolding near the war memorial.

Camberley Park

Just a short walk from the town centre, Camberley Park offers a neat patch of green with sloping lawns and a tidy children’s play area.

It’s always open and especially popular with families on sunny weekends. Not a destination in itself but perfect for a pause if you’re in town already.

Hawley Meadows And Blackwater Park

Approaching from Badshot Lea, this riverside green space feels expansive and untamed. Car parks on Campion Close give easy access to broad meadows, bird-rich hedgerows and scattered benches where walkers can stop and watch the water.

We followed a riverside trail for nearly an hour without doubling back—it’s the kind of place where distance seems to disappear.

Frith Hill

Frith Hill rises quietly to the south of town and while it lacks signage or visitor facilities, it delivers on atmosphere. This is a place for those who like their walks a little rougher around the edges—steep paths, dry bracken and a sweeping silence.

During a visit to Lightwater, we decided to stop here on the way back and stretch our legs—a good choice, especially in late afternoon when golden light cuts through the pine trunks and the scent of warm bark fills the air.

Watchetts Lakes

We nearly missed the sign for this one—it’s easy to walk past. But tucked away behind Verran Road lies a cluster of small lakes, lined with benches and low willow trees.

It’s modest in scale but charmingly wild. Open all hours and popular with early risers and the occasional angler.

Little Street

Station House holds one of Frimley’s most unique offerings: a miniature high street for young children to role-play real-world settings. From vets and builders to cafés and shops, the setup is impressively detailed.

Sessions run all week from 9:15 am to 5:10 pm and while it’s built for under-7s, we spotted more than one adult grinning at the tiny supermarket. This spot draws a lot of interest from people in West End looking for something different to do indoors.

Surrey Heath Museum

A short stop but a worthwhile one. The museum sits along Obelisk Way and is open Tuesday to Saturday until 4:30 pm.

It traces the social and archaeological history of the region, with a rotating selection of exhibitions—we caught a small but thoughtful display on WWII home life in Surrey. The staff were friendly and full of recommendations for nearby walks and cafés.

Round Off Your Day

Frimley’s centre isn’t overflowing with eateries but what it does have is genuinely useful: a handful of independent cafés, casual takeaways and relaxed pubs. We had coffee and cake at Poppins on Frimley High Street—cheerful, no-nonsense service and a proper pot of tea.

For something heartier, the Rose & Thistle pub near the hospital does generous portions and has outdoor seating when the weather holds. Travelling from Woking? It’s worth staying the night—Frimley Lodge Guest House offers simple, affordable rooms in walking distance of the town’s key spots.
