Victory Park is the kind of place you spot while driving through Chertsey Road, with wide lawns that draw joggers, families and dog walkers. There’s a playground, tennis courts and open space for informal kickabouts.

Free parking along one side and multiple entrances make it accessible without effort. It’s not a flashy park—just a reliable local space that earns its keep with regular use.

Brooklands Museum

We planned a morning outing from Hersham and landed at Brooklands Museum—part racetrack, part aviation museum and wholly absorbing. Highlights include vintage aircraft, early motorbikes and the old Members’ Bridge looking down on the former racing circuit.

It’s open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with on-site parking and a solid café if you’re making a half-day of it.

Mercedes-Benz World

Approaching from Esher, this modern showroom-slash-museum offers simulators, test tracks and floor after floor of gleaming engineering. Whether you’re keen on driving experiences or just want to look under the bonnet of something extravagant, it delivers.

There’s no entry fee, parking is free and it’s open until 6:00 pm most days—an easy place to add to the itinerary when in the area.

National Trust – River Wey & Godalming Navigations

Just past the edges of Addlestone, this towpath walk near Thames Lock unfolds quietly. We nearly missed the turn along Jessamy Road—signage is minimal—but once you’re parked, the scenery changes quickly.

It’s a lovely walk any time of year, with swans, canal boats and glimpses into the workings of the old locks. A small National Trust museum adds context and you’ll rarely run into a crowd.

Chertsey Meads

Tucked within easy reach of Shepperton, this open floodplain offers a refreshing break from the neatly trimmed spaces elsewhere. The terrain is mostly wild grassland with big skies and space to wander without boundaries.

There are no cafés or kiosks—just fields, riverbank and birdsong. It’s the kind of place where you can sit in the boot of your car and watch the light shift across the grass.

Tyler Gardens Open Space

A quiet patch tucked off the residential streets of KT15, Tyler Gardens is more of a local breather than a full-day stop. Still, it has a simple charm—tree cover, grassy paths and benches where you might sit and do nothing at all.

It’s open 24/7, usually empty and ideal for those in need of a short stretch between stops.

Addlestone War Memorial

This spot draws a lot of interest from people in West Byfleet during Remembrance events. The site is understated—a small garden, tidy paving and a central memorial stone.

You’ll find it just off Chertsey Road. There’s not much parking directly outside but it’s a short walk from Victory Park or nearby side streets.

Brooklands Community Park

While driving through Byfleet, we found time to stop at Brooklands Community Park—a broad, modern park with a bit of everything. There’s a skate zone, open fields and space for flying drones or remote-controlled cars.

It’s open daily from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and has good parking nearby. Great for families or a longer pause in your day.

Woburn Park

An ideal detour for drivers coming from Walton On Thames, this small green space along Weybridge Road offers play areas, picnic benches and open ground for kids to run.

It’s simple, local and rarely busy—more of a functional green stop than a destination but still a welcome one.

Addlestone Community Centre

You’ll spot this large centre along Garfield Road, often busy with local events, dance classes and community gatherings. We dropped in during a Saturday market and found food stalls, handmade crafts and a surprisingly good book sale.

Parking’s straightforward and it’s well signed—worth checking their event schedule if you’re passing through.

Hampton Court Palace

While driving in from Molesey, we decided to end the day here—a strong contrast to Addlestone’s quieter sites. The palace grounds are vast, the interiors steeped in Tudor history and the formal gardens reward those who don’t mind walking.

Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Paid parking is available but it’s best to arrive early to avoid congestion.

Refuelling Stops And Local Comforts

Addlestone isn’t packed with chains and that’s to its credit. You’ll find a steady mix of local pit-stops instead—from The Olive Tree Café on Station Road (great for coffee and breakfast) to The Crouch Oak, a classic British pub with decent parking just outside. If you’re staying the night or planning a break from the road, The Bridge Hotel near Shepperton offers waterside rooms and is easy to reach by car, even late in the evening. It’s the kind of place where having your own set of wheels lets you explore at your pace, without missing the small moments in between.
