Maiden Erlegh Local Nature Reserve

A very well-hidden place with a lot to see, with plenty of information boards, old litter bins, notice boards and signposts. The pond is well looked after with clear water but the area around the pond has a narrow path—it could do with a little bit of widening. There’s plenty of information about insects, moths, flies, beetles etc. but none of those can be seen anywhere in the reserve. There’s a small presence of ducks, coots and swans and other water-loving birds. Open around the clock, it’s ideal for anyone who enjoys quieter, off-the-radar spots.

The Meadows

Nice open place to relax and connect to the community. Children can play in the amusing game yard and there is a basketball stand for some training. The area is easily accessible from Reading, with a few groceries and a café nearby that add convenience for visitors. There is some poor practice by some irresponsible people that occasionally affects the good prosperity and grace of this beautiful and peaceful area of Lower Earley. One of these is the teenagers who sometimes display poor behaviour like screaming and bothering others. Another ongoing issue is pet waste left behind.

The row of parking spaces directly beside the building is useful and additional spaces across the road require a university permit.
