Unlimited Rental Mileage
Do you ever feel constrained by the mileage restriction imposed by many car rental companies? At SDVH, we believe in offering you the freedom to travel. Therefore, we offer unlimited mileage on any of our cars, except those used for courier services. This means whether or not you are merely driving around Hornchurch or heading out on a long journey, you pay a sole rental rate no matter the distance covered.
This is notably beneficial for longer trips. When reserving your car, be sure to speak with our customer service representatives to verify that the unlimited mileage benefit is valid for your chosen car.

European Cover Option
Sometimes, touring Europe by car is more enticing than taking to the skies or boarding a train. Rent a car from us and cruise in luxury and style across European countries including France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal and other EU nations.
Our unlimited mileage extends to cars hired for long journeys within the EU. When making a reservation, inform our agent if you aim to travel outside the UK, as an additional charge is necessary. If you intend to travel outside of the EU, also inform our reservation team beforehand.
One Way Vehicle Rental
Not every journey ends where it commenced. You might have to drive from A to B without the wanting to double back just to drop off the hired car. SDVH’s one-way car hire serves this purpose. Secure a car in one part of the UK and return it at your destination. This provision streamlines travel, eliminating lengthy rental durations.
Rather than navigating the car all the way back to the original rental location, conserve money by handing it back at a nearby depot or allowing our staff pick it up from your destination. Please note, this one-way car hire option is exclusively offered on the UK mainland and comes with an added fee. Don’t forget to mention your destination and pickup date when booking.
Insurance Is Included
Nobody can predict when accidents can occur, even if the most cautious among us. These mishaps might result in damage to the car and the passengers inside, so it remains always best to be prepared. That is why each car hired from SDVH comes with comprehensive insurance, protecting against minor damages to the rented car and all passengers.
This insurance is incorporated into the price of car hire, so zero hidden charges to worry about. For extra protection, we provide a Collision Damage Waiver, which decreases your excess liability for severe car damages. At the time of reservation, our team will tell you of the complete car hire fee, including insurance options.
Company Own Insurance - 10%
We understand that not every customer requires our rental car insurance coverage. If your corporate policy currently covers you, it’s pointless for us to supply more protection and we believe it’s unjust to charge every client the same rate. Thus, if you’re currently insured, we extend a 10% discount on all car bookings.
This deal allows you can take advantage of affordable car rentals from SDVH, together with our various advantages. In order to secure this business discount, please notify our team while arranging your car.

What To Do In Hornchurch
Hornchurch sits on the edge of Greater London where suburban calm meets open green space. Close to the A124 and A127, with the M25 nearby, it’s easy to reach by car and even easier to navigate once you’re here. We found parking to be straightforward around most parks and town spots, making it a good base for exploring at your own pace. A popular option with those based in Upminster, the town feels just far enough from the buzz of central London to slow things down. The weather helps with that—mild through most of the year, with crisp spring mornings, warm summer afternoons and tree-lined streets that light up in autumn. Winter brings a misty calm to the riverside paths, worth wrapping up for.
Attractions In Hornchurch
You don’t come for big-ticket attractions but for walks through green space, puzzles in upstairs rooms and quiet corners that reveal themselves gradually. You’ll find nature reserves, community cafés and just enough history to give it quiet character.
Hornchurch Country Park
The echoes of history still hum here. Built on the site of a former RAF airfield, on south end of Suttons Lane, Hornchurch Country Park blends green space with military heritage in a way that feels quiet but deeply grounded. Pillboxes and runways are dotted between wetlands, where reed beds rustle and coots skim the water. There’s a loop trail that takes about an hour, though we meandered for twice as long, distracted by a heron and a dog that refused to leave the water.
Room Lockdown Escape Rooms
Tucked above a shopfront, Room Lockdown, located on North Street, just off the main drag, feels like a hidden world in the middle of town. We chose the “Chrono Chamber” game and instantly found ourselves wrapped in sound effects, magnetic locks and narrative threads that somehow made sense. It’s smartly run and surprisingly immersive. The sort of activity you plan “just for fun” and end up raving about later. Great for groups or even just two confident problem-solvers. Operationg from 11:30 AM to 9 PM (Mon–Fri), 11:00 AM–9 PM (Sat), 11:30 AM–9 PM (Sun).
Langtons Gardens
The layout is symmetrical, the paths raked clean and the pond still as glass on a windless day. Langtons Gardens, placed behind Langtons House, off Billet Lane, belongs to an earlier time and it holds on to that grace. We passed only two other people on a chilly Tuesday morning, one sketching, the other reading and found ourselves whispering without knowing why. During a visit to Manor Park, we made a detour here that turned out to be the highlight of the morning. They are open daily 7:45 AM–6 PM.
Harrow Lodge Park
There’s a practical charm here. It’s where kids play football in threadbare boots, couples push prams with takeaway coffees and older folks exchange long chats on worn benches. Still, the boating lake brings a quiet elegance and we watched someone feed a swan from a sandwich crust. The café is decent. Nothing fancy but hearty. The paths are wide enough for a relaxed walk even when it’s busy. An ideal detour for drivers coming from Barkingside, especially with family in tow. It placed off Upper Rainham Road and Elm Park Avenue, with café working from 12 PM to 9 PM.
Essex Wildlife Trust Ingrebourne Nature Discovery Centre
We didn’t expect to spend so much time here. What looks small from the outside opens into a surprisingly detailed centre—interactive exhibits, kids’ nature play and a glass-fronted café looking over marshland. Outside, elevated walkways lead through the Ingrebourne Valley, where we heard woodpeckers and spotted two deer darting into cover. For families or anyone with an interest in local ecology, it’s worth a proper visit. It’s located on Squadrons Approach, next to Hornchurch Stadium and operates 10 AM–5 PM daily.
Ingrebourne Hill Viewpoint
There’s no sign, no fuss. Just a sloped trail that leads upwards until, quite suddenly, everything flattens out below you. Ingrebourne Hill isn’t high but the viewpoint gives just enough perspective to take in the spread of Hornchurch and beyond. While driving in from Harold Hill, we decided to stop here and were glad we did. You’ll find it off Rainham Road North.
Clockhouse Gardens
Small, quiet and beautifully looked after, this park near St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster, feels almost private. There’s a war memorial at one end, tidy hedges all round and a fountain that trickles rather than gurgles. We sat here on a sunny day with a paper bag of pastries and watched two toddlers chase pigeons across the paving. Operating Hours: 9 AM–5 PM (Weekdays), 10 AM–4 PM (Weekends).
Eastbrookend Country Park
You’ll hear the gravel crunch under your shoes and see kestrels hovering overhead. Eastbrookend isn’t groomed but it is alive. Its locations is near the Chase, on the border with Dagenham. It’s where nature feels like it’s been given space to get on with it. We followed the trail to the viewing platform over the marshes, then doubled back for coffee and Brick Lane bagels at the café. Tucked within easy reach of Beckton, it’s also a popular spot for walkers looking for something wilder than a manicured garden.
Hylands Park
Hylands, placed between Hylands Road and Osborne Walk, is the kind of park you use more than once. A shortcut to the shops, a place to tire out children, a sunny bench to eat a sandwich. It’s tucked away, framed by semi-detached houses and a sense of familiarity. We found a slope where kids were rolling down the hill and a quiet path with just enough shade to make the walk comfortable. This spot draws a lot of interest from people in Barking looking for an easy day out.
Raphael Park
A few minutes’ drive out of Hornchurch, Raphael Park on Main Road in Romford feels like a bigger cousin to the town’s green spaces. There’s a tree-lined promenade, a large lake with pedal boats and a café that opens early. We walked the circuit and watched anglers casting lines near the south bank. It’s busy at times but never overwhelming.
Spending Time In Hornchurch
Hornchurch is the kind of place where things unfold gradually. You might pop in for a short visit and find yourself lingering longer than planned. For a cosy café experience, Café 108 offers a warm atmosphere and a menu filled with breakfast and lunch favourites. If you’re in the mood for fish and chips, The Frying Pan serves up generous portions right in the heart of town. And for an overnight stay, the Devonshire Hotel provides comfortable accommodation with easy access to local parks and shops. During a visit to Leytonstone, we found time to stop here and ended up staying the whole afternoon. Whether you’re passing through or staying the weekend, Hornchurch settles in at its own pace and you’ll likely do the same.
