During booking, tell our agent if you want to travel beyond the UK, as this incurs an extra fee. For travel past the EU, additionally inform our reservation team ahead of time.
One Way Vehicle Rental
Not all trips circle back to their start. Sometimes, you may wish to drive from point A to B without wishing to retrace your steps solely to give back the rented car. SDVH’s one-way car rental makes this possible. Book a car in one region of the UK and drop it off at your endpoint.
Such an arrangement simplifies travel, removing the need for prolonged rental duration. Instead of driving back to the first rental location, conserve funds by handing back the car to a proximate depot or allowing our crew to retrieve it at your endpoint. Note, our one-way car hire service is solely offered on the UK mainland and includes an added charge. Don’t forget to mention your final destination and pick-up date when booking.
Insurance Is Included
Irrespective of cautious you are, accidents can still occur, resulting in damage to the car or its passengers. Staying equipped for such situations is vital. For this reason, at SDVH, each car hired includes comprehensive insurance that covers minor damages to the car and every passenger.
This insurance comes incorporated in the car hire fee, so there are no hidden charges. We also provide a Collision Damage Waiver for extra protection, which lessens your liability for major damages to the car. As you make a booking, our staff will tell you about the full cost of the car hire, including all insurance alternatives.
Company Own Insurance - 10%
We understand that not every customer requires our rental car insurance coverage. If your firm policy previously protects you, we see no reason for us to provide more protection and we think it’s unjust to charge all customers the identical rate. Thus, if you’re already insured, we give a 10% discount on all car hires.
This enables you can experience affordable car rentals from SDVH, along with our various benefits. To get this corporate discount, make sure to inform our team during reserving your car.

What To Do In Harlesden
Harlesden is a culturally rich part of north-west London, known for its strong local identity and diverse heritage backed by its 17,000 residents. Sitting just off the A404 and close to the North Circular, it’s easy to reach by car, especially for those heading in from other parts of the city or nearby suburbs like Kensal Rise. The area experiences mild weather for most of the year, though spring through early autumn tends to offer the best conditions for outdoor exploration. A light jacket and sturdy shoes are always a good call. Whether you’re drawn to its Caribbean roots, historic high streets or community events like the annual Harlesden Carnival, the neighbourhood has an energy that invites you to dig a little deeper.
Attractions In Harlesden
We approached Harlesden without a fixed plan, which turned out to be the best way to experience it. From wide-open parks to striking buildings and little green pockets tucked between houses, it offers more than you expect.
Roundwood Park
Roundwood Park on Harlesden Road was our starting point and it didn’t disappoint. Formal gardens surround an aviary and children’s playground, while locals drift between paths with dogs or coffee in hand. The café near the main entrance serves simple favourites and the park itself opens early from 7am until 4:30pm. It felt like one of those spaces that’s genuinely part of daily life, not just a weekend destination.
Harlesden Jubilee Clock Tower
On our way over from Maida Vale, we spotted the Harlesden Jubilee Clock Tower, a slender landmark rising above the high street buzz. It’s not something you spend long at but as a symbol of the area’s Victorian roots, it carries charm.
Bubble Planet – London
This one caught us off guard in the best way. Bubble Planet on Fulton Road is bold, loud and surreal, a walk-through sensory experience filled with light, colour and oversized installations. Great for families but honestly fun without kids too. We wandered through rooms filled with projections, glowing balls and reflections. The experience had a playful, dreamlike rhythm to it. Open most days from 10am (closed Mondays), it’s a great option if you’re after something light-hearted and immersive. If you’re driving in from Westbourne Park, parking nearby tends to be manageable.
Dollis Hill House
At the edge of Gladstone Park lies Dollis Hill House, a site that feels quiet but historically charged. Though now in ruins, it still carries the echoes of its past, once having hosted William Gladstone himself. For those drawn to quiet places with stories beneath the surface, this corner of Neasden is worth a look. The surrounding green space adds to the atmosphere. Open from 9am to 5pm.
BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London
Approaching from Cricklewood, we were struck by the Mandir’s brilliance. From the carved Italian marble to the silent, cool interiors, every part of the experience was calming. This Hindu temple, open daily 9am to 6pm, offers free entry and a warm welcome to all. Whether you come to admire the architecture or just to sit in stillness, it’s one of those rare spaces that stays with you after you leave.
Gladstone Park
We hadn’t planned to spend long here but the openness of Gladstone Park drew us in. Wide fields, climbing paths and a few sculptures scattered throughout kept us exploring. The café near the tennis courts was busy but welcoming. It’s a gentle mix of noise and stillness. With its 24-hour access, there’s freedom to enjoy it on your own terms. Before heading back to Acton, we stayed just long enough to catch golden hour from the top of the slope.
Brent Museum
Tucked inside the Willesden Library Centre, Brent Museum is compact, quietly curated and surprisingly personal. Stories of migration, local resistance, industry and celebration are all packed into a few well-used rooms. Open from 10:30am to 8pm during the week, it’s a strong option for a rainy day or a thoughtful detour after lunch.
Bramshill Road Open Space
This one’s not for the camera roll. It’s for the community. Bramshill Road Open Space is a simple, grassy spot where locals walk their dogs, chat on benches and pause during errands. It’s not a destination but it fits right into the rhythm of daily life. Folks from West Hampstead sometimes use it as a breather between appointments.
Tubbs Road Pocket Park
Tiny but mighty. We planned a midday breather at Tubbs Road Pocket Park and ended up lingering longer than expected. Open 24 hours, it’s well-kept, thoughtfully planted and had just enough seating for us to enjoy our takeaway coffee. It’s a good example of what makes Harlesden special. Small gestures that build into something meaningful.
Roundwood Park Hill
While nearby in Kilburn, we took a short drive to Roundwood Park Hill. A quiet climb, a bench and a sky that stretched surprisingly wide. There wasn’t much else to it but that was enough. The noise fades. You notice the leaves. It’s not marked on many lists but we’d return without hesitation.
A Local Mix Of Culture, Calm And Good Eats
Harlesden’s appeal lies in its contrasts. You’ll go from peaceful parks to vibrant high streets in just a few turns of the wheel. For those spending the day, there are plenty of casual food spots to enjoy. We grabbed flaky patties and jerk chicken near Craven Park and found a handful of independent cafés just off Park Parade. Accommodation ranges from practical B&Bs to short-stay lets with parking included. It’s a good base to return to after a day of driving, especially if you’re after something more local than central.
