You’d miss it if you weren’t listening. Somewhere near the Dulwich Road entrance to the park, a sharp whistle cuts through the breeze. That’s how we found it—the miniature railway, winding through a tree-lined loop only open on Sundays.

We bought two short tickets and watched a family clamber aboard with sandwiches in their laps. The ride lasted only a few minutes but the smiles lingered longer. Just one of those odd little moments that only show up if you’ve got time to notice.

We pulled in just as the lights flicked on above the entrance. The stacked shipping containers of Pop Brixton never look the same twice—sometimes art, sometimes a party, sometimes just a place to be.

We didn’t have seats, just standing passes, which is the best way to feel the Academy anyway. Inside, the floor slopes just enough to make the crowd feel close and the sound wraps around the walls. A regular pull for gig-goers from Streatham, it’s loud, hot, brilliant.

Bellefields Road was quiet by the time we passed through—just the hum of late traffic and a flickering light from a painted door. Wallflower isn’t a gallery in the usual sense. No signs. No noise. Just portraits lit gently behind windows. Inside, it felt personal. A space you enter softly. We didn’t speak much while we were there. On the way back toward East Dulwich, we barely needed to—it stayed with us, unspoken.
