Friends from Taunton recommended this spot to us, and it’s now one of our favourite places to relax and enjoy nature.

Dovery Manor Museum

It’s clear why locals and history buffs from Wellington are drawn to this charming museum—it’s a treasure trove of local history.

Valley of Rocks

Just a short drive from Porlock, the Valley of Rocks offers some of the most stunning scenery we’ve ever encountered. This dramatic landscape, with its towering cliffs and unusual rock formations, is a favourite spot for hiking and photography. We’ve visited multiple times, each trip revealing new perspectives on this rugged terrain. It’s no wonder that people travel from Bridgwater and further afield to experience the awe-inspiring beauty of the Valley of Rocks.

National Trust – Holnicote Estate

The Holnicote Estate is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, and we’ve spent many days exploring its extensive network of trails. Covering over 12,000 acres, the estate offers a diverse range of landscapes, from woodlands to moorlands. Whether we’re hiking, wildlife spotting, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet, the estate never disappoints. Visitors from Burnham on Sea often tell us that they come here to unwind and reconnect with nature, and we couldn’t agree more.

Robber’s Bridge

Robber’s Bridge is one of those hidden gems that we stumbled upon by chance, and it quickly became a favourite. This picturesque stone bridge, nestled in lush greenery, feels like something out of a fairy tale. We’ve returned several times just to soak in the tranquillity of the spot. It’s easy to see why locals cherish this place—it’s a peaceful retreat that’s perfect for a quiet afternoon.

Porlock Apple Press

We had a wonderful time at the Porlock Apple Press, especially during the autumn harvest season when the air is filled with the scent of freshly pressed cider apples. Located at The Old School Centre, this open-air museum celebrates Porlock’s apple-growing heritage. We found the demonstrations of traditional apple pressing techniques fascinating and left with a new appreciation for this aspect of local culture.

Porlock Recreation Ground

Porlock Recreation Ground on Parson’s Street is where we often go to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The well-maintained park is perfect for a family picnic or some light outdoor activities. We’ve enjoyed many sunny afternoons here, watching children play and locals gather for a friendly game of football. It’s a lovely spot to relax and soak in the community spirit of Porlock.

Porlock Beach

Porlock Beach is our go-to place when we want to enjoy the simple pleasures of a day by the sea. The beach’s distinctive shingle bank and expansive views of the Bristol Channel make it a peaceful and picturesque spot.
