Dunster Village Garden is a hidden gem we stumbled upon during our wanderings. Tucked away on Church Street, it’s the perfect spot to take a breather. We were charmed by the quiet beauty of the garden, where flowers seem to bloom year-round. It quickly became one of our favourite places in the village—just the right spot to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Located near Harwoods of Dunster Horologist, this small but well-maintained garden offers a tranquil escape from the more bustling parts of Dunster.

Nutcombe Bottom, Tall Trees Trail

If you love being surrounded by nature, Nutcombe Bottom’s Tall Trees Trail is a must-visit. As we walked along the trail, we were dwarfed by some of the tallest trees in England—an experience that was both humbling and awe-inspiring. The serene setting of the trail made it a perfect spot for a leisurely walk, though it also offers a more vigorous hike if you’re up for it. It’s easy to see why visitors from Wiveliscombe make the journey to immerse themselves in this natural wonder.

We couldn’t help but be impressed by the craftsmanship of this octagonal building, with its well-preserved timber structure. As we stood under its roof, we could almost hear the chatter of merchants from long ago. It’s no surprise that this landmark draws visitors, eager to see this unique piece of history, from Taunton.

If you’re in Dunster during December, don’t miss Dunster by Candlelight. This event is pure magic. The village is transformed into a festive wonderland, with twinkling lights, carol singers, and bustling market stalls. When we visited, it felt like we had stepped into a holiday postcard—the warm glow of the candles, the smell of roasted chestnuts, and the joyful atmosphere all made it an unforgettable experience. The event, which usually runs for two days, draws visitors from all over, including many from Ilminster who come to soak up the festive spirit.
