SDVH’s one-way car rental service addresses this need. Rent a car in one UK location and return it at your end location.

Rather than driving the car back to the rental depot, save costs by returning it at a nearby depot or having our team collect it from your final destination. Please note that this one-way car rental option is exclusive to the UK mainland and brings an additional charge. You must specify your final destination and pick-up date at the time of reservation to enjoy this service.
Insurance Is Included
No matter our careful nature, accidents can surface, causing damage to the car or the occupants. Understanding this, it’s imperative to be well-prepared. Therefore, every car hired from SDVH offers comprehensive insurance, covering both possible harm to the car and each person aboard.
The basic insurance package is always added to the car hire price, so customers won’t encounter any surprise charges. When you make a booking, our staff will show the complete cost of the car hire, covering all available insurance options.
Company Own Insurance - 10%
We realize that not every client requires rental car insurance. If you’re previously covered under your company’s policy, there’s no reason for us to provide additional protection, and we believe it’s not right to charge everyone the same. What To Do In Thurlestone
Thurlestone’s a charming little village in South Devon that’s got a bit of everything – stunning beaches, top-notch golf, and views that’ll knock your socks off. It’s not exactly bustling, with just about 700 folks calling it home, but that’s part of its charm.
If you’re driving down, you’ll want to take the A381 and then hop onto the smaller roads. Weather-wise, it’s pretty mild, but pack a jumper and a brolly just in case – you know how British weather can be! Best time to swing by? Late spring to early autumn’s your best bet for decent weather and all the attractions being open.
Attractions In Thurlestone
Thurlestone offers beautiful beaches and coastal walks, ideal for relaxation and exploration.
National Trust – South Milton Sands
South Milton Sands is a real gem managed by the National Trust. It’s got this gorgeous beach that goes on for ages, and the water’s crystal clear. People from Kingsbridge rave about it, saying it’s perfect for a family day out or a bit of water sports if you’re feeling adventurous. The beach is backed by some pretty impressive cliffs, and if you’re lucky, you might spot some seals bobbing about in the water. There’s a cute little cafĂ© right on the beach too, so you can grab a cuppa or an ice cream while you’re soaking up the sun. Oh, and if you’re into birdwatching, bring your binoculars – the reedbeds behind the beach are a hotspot for all sorts of feathered friends.
Thurlestone Rock
Thurlestone Rock’s this massive natural arch just off the coast. It’s pretty famous around these parts and makes for a cracking photo op. Folks staying in Salcombe often pop over just to see it. If you’re into geology or just like looking at cool rock formations, you’ll love this. The rock’s been standing there for yonks, weathering storms and tides, and it’s got this really dramatic silhouette, especially at sunset. If you’re feeling brave and the tide’s right, you can sometimes kayak right through the arch – just make sure you know what you’re doing, yeah? The local sailing club often uses it as a marker for their races too, so you might catch some exciting sailing action while you’re admiring the view.
Yarmer Beach
Yarmer Beach is a bit of a hidden treasure. It’s got these lovely golden sands and it’s usually pretty quiet. Visitors from Bigbury often come here when they want to escape the crowds. Great for a peaceful stroll or a bit of sunbathing if the weather’s playing nice. The beach is backed by some impressive cliffs, which not only look pretty swish but also provide a bit of shelter from the wind. If you’re into your beach combing, this is a top spot – the tides often wash up all sorts of interesting bits and bobs. And if you’re feeling energetic, you can walk all the way to Thurlestone village at low tide – just keep an eye on those tides, yeah?
Yarmer Beach (Yarmouth Sand)
Now, don’t get confused – Yarmer Beach (Yarmouth Sand) is basically the same place as Yarmer Beach. It’s just another name for it. Still just as lovely, still just as peaceful. People from Slapton seem to prefer this end of the beach, saying it’s got better views. This part of the beach is particularly good for swimming when the conditions are right, as the waters are usually pretty calm. It’s also a favourite spot for local dog walkers, so if you’re bringing your four-legged friend along, they’ll be in good company. Just remember to clean up after them, yeah? The sand here is particularly fine and soft, perfect for building sandcastles if you’re bringing the little ones.
Dewer’s Lookout
Dewer’s Lookout’s a bit off the beaten track, but it’s worth seeking out. It’s got these stunning panoramic views over the coastline. Bring your camera, ’cause you’ll want to remember this view. Visitors from Ivybridge reckon it’s one of the best spots in the area for watching the sunset. The lookout’s perched up high, so you get this amazing bird’s eye view of the coastline stretching out for miles. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Bolt Tail in one direction and Burgh Island in the other. It’s a bit of a climb to get up there, but trust me, it’s worth every step. Pack a picnic and make an evening of it – watching the sun go down from up here is something special.
Bantham Beach
Bantham Beach is a real crowd-pleaser. It’s got great surf, plenty of space, and views out to Burgh Island. It’s popular with families, surfers, and pretty much anyone who likes a good beach. Folks from Newton Ferrers often make a day trip of it, especially when the weather’s good. The beach is massive, so even on busy days, you can usually find a quiet spot. The surf here is some of the best in South Devon, so if you’re into catching waves, you’re in for a treat. There’s a surf school right on the beach if you fancy giving it a go. And when you’ve worked up an appetite, the Gastrobus in the car park does some cracking grub. Just watch out for the tide – it comes in pretty quick here.
Broad Sand
Broad Sand’s another lovely little beach in the area. It’s a bit smaller and more secluded than some of the others, which makes it perfect if you’re after a bit of peace and quiet. It’s a hit with locals and visitors alike, great for a peaceful picnic or a bit of paddling. The beach is nestled between two headlands, which gives it this really cozy, sheltered feel. It’s a great spot for rockpooling at low tide – you can find all sorts of little sea critters if you know where to look. The water here is usually pretty calm too, so it’s good for a dip if you don’t mind it being a bit brisk. Just be aware that there’s no lifeguard cover here, so take care if you’re going in the water.
There are other lovely spots nearby, too – Dartmouth and South Brent, so you’ve got plenty of options for day trips also.
